Compliance Officer
Job description:
Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with BSP Circulars (1160, 1166, 1206, 1213, 1215, 1218 and related issuances) and AMLC regulations
Manage ongoing BSP and AMLC regulatory reporting, examination preparation, and correspondence
Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with regulatory developments
Support BSP EMI and RTC licensing processes, including preparation of compliance-related submissions
AML/CFT Program Management
Serve as the designated Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Officer (MLCO)
Design and implement AML/CFT programs including KYC/CDD/EDD procedures, transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening
Review and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Cash Transaction Reports (CTRs) to AMLC in accordance with regulatory thresholds
Conduct AML/CFT risk assessments and ensure FATF-aligned controls are in place
Develop and deliver AML/CFT training programs for all staff
Operational Compliance
Oversee customer onboarding compliance, including risk-based KYC/CDD review for individual and corporate clients
Monitor transactions for unusual or suspicious activity and escalate as required
Maintain complete and accurate records in compliance with BSP record-keeping requirements
Coordinate with operations and product teams to ensure compliance is embedded in day-to-day processes
Governance & Reporting
Report directly to the Managing Director on compliance matters, risks, and regulatory developments
Prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management and, where required, for BSP/AMLC
Liaise with external legal counsel, auditors, and regulatory bodies as needed
Qualifications:
Required QualificationsMinimum5 years of compliance or AML/CFT experiencewithin a BSP-supervised financial institution (bank, EMI, NBFI, remittance company, or MSB)
Deep working knowledge of BSP regulations, AMLA (Republic Act 9160 as amended), and AMLC rules
Hands-on experience filing STRs and CTRs with AMLC
Experience conducting KYC/CDD/EDD reviews and managing customer risk profiling
Familiarity with transaction monitoring systems and AML screening tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification or equivalent is a strong advantage
Preferred QualificationsPrior experience at a remittance company, MSB, or fintech operating under BSP oversight
Experience supporting a BSP licensing application or regulatory examination
Exposure to cross-border payment compliance and correspondent banking requirements
Experience building a compliance program from scratch in an early-stage or greenfield operation
Familiarity with KoreaPhilippines remittance corridor or Korean financial services context
