Private Client Paralegal
Location: Marlborough, Wiltshire
Salary: 35-45K plus excellent benefits package
Role & Responsibilities
As a Private Client Paralegal, you will provide essential support to our
solicitors and partners, ensuring smooth running of client files and
excellent client care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the drafting of wills, trusts, and lasting powers of
attorney
- Preparing probate applications and assisting with estate
administration
- Conducting legal research and preparing supporting documentation
- Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, HMRC, and the Probate Registry
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation
- Managing your own caseload of straightforward matters under
supervision
- Supporting solicitors with more complex cases and attending client
meetings where required
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional obligations
Qualifications:
Key Requirements
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Private Client Paralegal to
join our specialist firm, advising a loyal and longstanding client base
which is primarily farming and land-owning individuals and families. You
will bring a deep understanding of private client law and the ability to
manage matters independently while delivering exceptional service.
Essential skills and experience:
- Previous paralegal experience in Private Client law (minimum 12
months preferred)
- Strong understanding of key areas including wills, probate, trusts,
and lasting powers of attorney
- Confident in drafting standard legal documents with accuracy and
attention to detail
- Experience liaising with clients, courts, and third parties in a
professional and empathetic manner
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, including file
management and deadlines
- Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office
Desirable skills:
- Experience working with farming, rural, or high-net-worth clients
- Experience with commercial partnership agreements
- Knowledge of estate and tax planning
- Progression toward professional qualifications such as CILEX or STEP
